What do councillors do? Louis’ question for National Democracy Week
Hi Gary. I’d like to ask you a question
what do Councillors do? Thanks for the question Louis.
Councillors do quite a lot of different things. We make sure that the Council
does the services that the people we look after want it to do. So, voters tell
us what they want us to do and the Council gets on and does it, and we also
have to make sure that the things the Government tell us to do get done, and we
try to do all of that with our team that works properly inside the building, the
staff, for the best value that we can get that done. So emptying the dustbins the team
do that. It’s the Councillors who decide that we do that on a weekly basis.
Some councils do that fortnightly. Recycling, Councillors decided we should
do that weekly because that’s what people wanted, some councils do that
fortnightly, so that’s the type of services that we do.
