USS Constitution is Starting Final Preparation for Dry Dock (HL 31)


WELCOME TO ALL HANDS UPDATE, I’M PETTY OFFICER JAMES STILIPEC AND THESE ARE YOUR HEADLINES FROM AROUND THE FLEET. USS CONSTITUTION ALSO KNOWN AS “OLD IRONSIDES” IS STARTING FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR DRY DOCK ENTRY. USS CONSTITUTION, THE WORLD’S OLDEST COMMISSIONED WARSHIP AFLOAT, IS SCHEDULED TO ENTER DRY DOCK MAY 19TH FOR A THREE YEAR PLANNED RESTORATION. THE FUTURE USS JOHN FINN, DDG 113 WAS LAUNCHED AT THE HUNTINGTON INGALLS INDUSTRIES SHIPYARD MARCH 28TH. USS JOHN FINN IS NAMED FOR NAVY CHIEF PETTY OFFICER JOHN FINN WHO RECEIVED THE MEDAL OF HONOR FOR HIS ACTIONS DURING THE DECEMBER 7TH ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR.
