Mayor Julián Castro: 2012 Democratic National Convention Keynote Address – Full Speech

Author Since: Mar 11, 2019

  1. This man makes me a proud Latino and a proud Democrat. Hay que votar por Obama/Biden 2012, esto es muy importante, no solamente para los Latinos, pero para todos los que creemos en America.

  2. I am so glad to call this man my mayor and to have had the chance to meet him. He is one of the most genuinely intelligent and kind men I have ever met.

  3. I'm torn because TX is a state that threw a high school girl in jail for missing classes because she had to work to support her brother through college. Even though she's an honor student…. so she worked hard to exhaustion and the state threw her in jail hmmm

  4. Inspirational. To the point. He actually talked about issues.
Thats why I'm proudly voting Obama 2012!!!

    Castro 2016?

  5. I also loved the line that life is neither a sprint nor a marathon but a relay. That was brilliant and true. It is certainly no a marathon where a vice presidential candidate lies about his time by more than an hour.

  6. That last point was right on in exposing Mitt Romney's pathalogical hypocrisy. Access to affordable healthcare for all: first he was all for keeping that issue alive for the entire nation and now he wants to "kill it dead".

  7. So happy to se democrats come out of their shells Nd fight back against the GOP on issues we should be proud of. Great speeches for the entire convention tonight I am so proud of my fellow democrats. Facts really do matter this election

  8. I have never been so proud to consider myself a San Antonian, a Democrat, or a fellow Thomas Jefferson graduate. OBAMA 2012!!!

  9. From 0:10 to 0:35, I feel that Mayor Castro is channeling JFK during his inauguration speech on January 20, 1961! They may not have had the same words, but the exact same cadence and style as Kennedy used. I am impressed by Castro as I was impressed by Obama at the DNC in 2004. I see Castro in the White House in 2016 or 2020, no later than 2024. Let all of us thinking Americans re-elect Obama – and vote in a Democratic Congress so he can go down as one of the greatest presidents in history.

  10. I have goose bumps. Hilary in 2016, Julian Castro 2024, for three back to back to back first, first african american, first woman, first hispanic presidents!!!!

  11. Man the DNC is killing it! Their peoples speeches are more inspiring, more uplifting and make me feel even more proud to be an American! Oh and w didn't have to spend an absurd amount of money on this convention like they did. I really believe that after this convention is over we will see Obama skyrocket in the polls.

  12. He did the same thing for young Latin America men, what president Obama did for young African American men…showing them that if u work hard & stay on the right path, u can & will be successful. that they matter & their words count, that America is their country as well & they too can live the American dream!! BRAVO CASTRO!!

  13. "The figure of 4.5 million jobs is accurate if you look at the most favorable period and category for the administration. But overall, there are still fewer people working now than when Obama took office at the height of the recession." CNN

  14. I could not be prouder to have been raised in San Antonio,TX. And to be a Graduate of The Beautiful and Historic Thomas Jefferson High School in said San Antonio. (C/O 1998). I have always believed that Education is the basis of everything in life, but it is also what the person makes of their education. You can go to the best schools money can buy or you can go to one of the poorest schools in the nation,it all depends on the student's will and determination.

  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Texas primarily a republican state? I have respect for that young lady. Hope you choose right this upcoming election. S
    -Stay strong and work hard.

  16. He has taken so many rhetoric traits and hand gestures from Obama! But why not! Obama's a great speaker! I also think Obama's the one to vote for, so gutted not be American and have a vote! Obama looks like the best for America's social policy, debatably for your economic policy, but undoubtedly for your international relations! I mean Romney managed to offend us Britons! Your closest ally!

  17. I actually think is between Hillary Clinton and Biden in 2016.
I think Biden deserves a shot, he calls it like he means it.
