J&K Lifts Ban on Social Media

In J&K, since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019 the internet has been shut. People were bored. The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration has now decided to lift the ban. However, only 2G network will work, which is very slow. J&K administration will now allow its people to use social media sites till March 17. Because the government will conduct an experiment and keep a watch on the content shared on social media. After that they will make a call to extend or not. J&K government said that internet connectivity will be available on fixed landline connections. It is available for people using postpaid sims. But people using prepaid connections, have to undergo a verification process by updating their details. Earlier on February 15, the people of J&K were allowed to access government approved websites.
