Australia commemorates New Zealand Land Wars

Across the ditch, Australia is also commemorating
the New Zealand Land Wars for the first time. A service was held
at Sydney’s Hyde Park today where indigenous leaders, Māori, politicians
and Defence Force personnel paid their respects
to those who lost their lives in New Zealand’s armed conflicts. It’s believed that
over 2000 Australians served in New Zealand’s
land conflicts and were given land in exchange
for their services. It’s hoped the service will
be held again next year in Sydney.
